I liked the people of Quito, Ecuador. Except the one that stole my backpack. :(

Got my main DSLR and “walk around lens” along with Micro 4/3rds camera and lenses that I planned to use for video and lightweight kit. Fortunately, I had an older backup DSLR and main telephoto zoom and wide-angle zoom in the hotel room. Wish I had the main DSLR but at least I was able to make the most of the situation. Otherwise, would have had to go back again…right.

Traveling Abroad- Before You Go

Just finished reading Thom Hogan’s blog about his recent photograpy workshop to Patagonia/Chile, “A World Biosphere Preserve gets Closed by Strikers and Tourists held Hostage”

The article prompted me to visit the U.S. Department of States web site and take a look at Travel Advisories. If you are planning to travel abroad take a look at Smart Traveler Enrollment Program and search Google with U.S. Wardens Report and the country that you plan to visit.

Back from Reno

Sculpture at Reno Riverwalk along Truckee River
Back from overnight in Reno. Neat sculpture next to Truckee River in downtown Reno. ligt reflect off of sculpture reflection on wall and changes with the sun’s position and quality of the light.

Updated website theme and lost pictures

Well, sometimes things don’t go as planned. I updated the theme template and lost the rotating photos in the masthead. Should have thought about the new theme completely overwriting the code. Will work on getting masthead photos back up again. Sigh.:(

Welcome

My site is focused on photographs I’ve taken while traveling. Some flyfishing and backpacking photos, too. Hope you enjoy. -Sam

New Images for Header.

So now the header images are snipets from my photographs. Hope that they intrigue and interest you.

I had to get sick and stay home to find the time to figure out the rotating headers for this theme. Once reading the instructions (that is a rarity for me), it was very easy. Then had to play around with the default banners to figure out the optimal image size for my photos.

Hi and Happy New Year!

Hope that you are enjoying the start of 2010. Please take a look around the site and explore. It is focused on photographs I’ve taken on various trips. Oh, some flyfishing and backpacking, too. Welcome. -Sam Oki
